Common Ground: Regional Golf Hub

It started as a vision for the Colorado Golf Association, have their own course where they could enable juniors to get into golf in a non-threatening and welcoming environment.

Well, Common Ground in Aurora, Colorado succeeded. In fact, it has been wildly successful. The course took over the old Lowry Air Base course, and went through a total re-design. Not only is the course different, but they drastically improved the range and added a short par 3 course which is family and kid friendly. About the only thing that might not be as good is the clubhouse, much smaller than previous but adequate.

What really sets the course apart is the winding layout where no two holes bend the same way. Well placed bunkers test your macho factor if you want all you can nibble from the back tees. And, since the ground is more flat than hilly, this is a course that is walker friendly.

Because it is only 16 minutes from downtown Denver, it’s accessible after work or on a business jaunt around town. And with the placement at the east end of the old base, the views of the mountains are spectacular at sunset. With all it has going for it, you expect a pretty booked tee sheet. A testament to the vision of a course for “all the game has to offer.”
